One of my favourite things about writing for Breathe Magazine is being paired up with amazing artists who illustrate my work. This gorgeous depiction of such a magical creature by Rebecca Harris @acorn_studio is one of my favourites!
As always, it was inspiring to speak to cool people doing important work; Mic Mayhew at the South Cumbria Pine Marten project was a font of knowledge, and they are really changing the world with their work.
My favourite facts were:
🐿️ Pine marten reintroduction supports red squirrels as pine martens find the grey squirrels are easier to hunt!
👉 Pine martens have uniquely shaped bibs on their chest that can be used to tell them apart like fingerprints!
💩 Pine marten poo changes colour depending on what they’ve been eating, and sometimes it is bright blue!
