When I first heard about Refugees Rock, a free climbing programme for recent refugees and asylum seekers, I knew I had to write about it.
I was delighted to interview Ben Fitzsimons, who took over the project at the Climbing Hangar.
‘these people [are] human beings, who have had to leave everything behind, their whole families, their friends, their livelihoods. When I see them climb though, I see their inner child come out to play. They laugh and smile and make friends. It is a wonderful thing to behold and I consider myself truly privileged’.
