When someone dies, they leave everything behind. People they loved, plans they made, and craft projects unfinished.
I spent a wonderful afternoon interviewing Masey Kaplan and Jennifer Simonic about their Loose Ends Project.
Both keen knitters, the women have often been asked by friends to complete blankets, sweaters and other projects left behind by loved ones. When their friend, Patty, approached them about taking on two of her late mother’s crocheted blankets, however, both Masey and Jennifer, while desperately wanting to help, realised they weren’t the right people to complete the project. That’s when they decided to create a community, called Loose Ends, to match unfinished projects with volunteer finishers.
