I am delighted to share that one of my poems has been published by Sylvia magazine. I don’t get much of a chance to do submissions at the moment, so it is always extra satisfying when an acceptance email comes in.
I first discovered Sylvia when one of my friends had a poem published by them. I really enjoyed the style of the poem and how accessible it was. I also enjoyed the seasonal theme of the magazine as a whole.
I was planning to write something new for their summer edition but I caught COVID! So, instead, I looked through a selection of my poems that were still looking for homes. I found this one, that I had written the previous November and thought it fit really well. Although I wrote it in November (not the most summer-y of months), it was when I was in the south of Spain, so it was 18 degrees still! And the feel of the poem has that summertime laziness of lounging around.
